I think this is an excellent idea, although it would much more effective if they ran it like an acclerated early stage VC initiative. By that I mean, provide a medium for business owners to send in business plans, establish the apparatus to review the Business Plans, meet with the managers or owners and provide funding for investment and growth.

For example, if GS were to contact the NJ EDA and the NJ EDC and ask them to set up monthly meetings with the Companies in their portfolios to present their business plans and capital requirements, with an eye towards funding these companies, one can readily imagine the explosive growth this could produce in the near term.

This program, as described, appears to be more oriented towards community organizations who will run training programs and qualify recipients. While that is very useful and certainly will provide GS with postive PR, it may not produce the "bang for the buck" in growth that's needed.

I am part of a small business looking for funding. I cannot find anywhere a link that provides for business plan submission, review and pitching for capital. Therefore, the liklihood of an enterprise like ours finding access to capital through this program set up to help companies like our is difficult to envision. This means less growth.

If I have this problem, I would imagine many others having the same issue. I write this in the hope that someone at GS reads this, reflects positively on it, and takes action to make it effective.
