The International Association of Healthcare Professionals has carefully selected Louis Mes, MD, to represent plastic surgeons in their publication, The Leading Physicians of the World.  Dr. Mes’s selection is a significant representation of his passion and dedication for the field of plastic surgery.  He is considered to be among the best with over 40 years of practice. Dr. Mes maintains a position at Plastic Surgery Associates in Lafayette, Louisiana. At his private practice, Dr. Mes specializes in a broad range of general plastic surgeries including reconstructive, cosmetic, pediatric, and hand surgery.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and in 1979 was certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Of his many accomplishments and achievements, Dr. Mes was listed in the popular publication “Best Doctors in America”, and in 1998, a local newspaper poll voted him Best Plastic Surgeon in Acadiana. A native of South Africa, Dr. Mes received basic training at the esteemed University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa.  He then relocated to the United Kingdom specializing in general surgery, and was elected to Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Scotland. Upon completion in the UK, Dr. Mes graduated from his residency program at the University of Michigan; during which time he was awarded the Coller Prize for Original Research, then moving to Lafayette in 1978, where he thrives in his practice.
