Martha began her career in training in 1979 when she taught for a year at the high school level in Malawi, Central Africa, (a country she had lived in since the age of 2).  She continued gaining professional experience in learning and development throughout her academic career at Tufts and Northwestern Universities in the USA where she earned a BA, MA and PhD.  Martha took on the role of full-time training consultant for the first time in 1996 and has since worked in the field as both an employee and as an independent consultant, successfully developing interactive courses and curricula that help clients to enable their employees’ development and motivation as well as increase their business productivity and improve operations. She considers her greatest professional achievement to be her empowering mentorship of individuals starting out in the field. In 1996, Martha designed her first custom tool to automate a business process for her employer.  She has continued to intersperse her work in the training space with developing tools designed to assist employees by automating common and time-consuming business processes. In parallel with her career in training and custom tool development, Martha has ardently pursued development as a computer artist, creating geometrical designs (including tessellations, fractals and kaleidoscope designs) out of original photographs of natural objects.  She also sells calendars, greeting cards and posters based on her designs.
