With over 20 years practicing, Henrietta Hicks has already demonstrated the passion and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field. Henrietta’s career began in 1989, after she received her nursing degree to be a licensed practical nurse. She then worked as an in-home respite nurse for approximately 11 years with special needs patients; mostly young adults and children. Respite care is typically short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home. Henrietta also worked in nursing homes and hospitals as a floor nurse for roughly 10 years. Being a floor nurse, she was responsible for the basic care of her patients; including giving medication and shots, setting up IVs, informing patients of their condition and diagnosis, and maintaining medical records. Currently, Henrietta is a special needs nurse, or a respite care nurse, based out of Mississippi, and also a faculty member of Pearl River County Hospital. Pearl River County Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital in Poplarville, Mississippi, with 150 beds.
