Press Release: Verlyne Mae Remund, RN, BSN, Represents Kansas with Entry into Renowned Publication Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare

The International Nurses Association has carefully selected Verlyne Mae Remund, RN, BSN, to represent nursing in their publication, Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare. Verlyn Remund’s selection is a significant representation of her passion and dedication for the field of nursing.  She is considered to be among the best with over 55 years in practice. Verlyne is a surgical/perioperative nurse at the University of Kansas Hospital located in Kansas City, Kansas. As a perioperative nurse, Verlyne works with patients who are having operative or other invasive procedures; therefore, she provides care for patients before, during, and after operations primarily in operating theatres, stress test evaluations, cardiac monitoring, vascular monitoring, and health assessments. Verlyne is an asset to the award winning hospital of the University of Kansas; being ranked as the #1 hospital in Kansas City, the region, and the state of Kansas. The Hospital is currently experiencing its sixth consecutive year being ranked on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list. In 1956 Verlyne graduated from the Bethany School of Nursing with her Registered Nursing degree. She then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Union College and the Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Upon completion, Verlyne was licensed in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support. She also shares the experiences and skills she has accrued by performing public lectures to the Kansas State Student Association, in-service presentations, and within the operating room at the Hospital. For all of her achievements over the years, Verlyne was honored with the Nurse of the Year award in 1978 and has remained active in the field from the start.
