[1]Worldwide Leaders in Healthcare and the International Nurses Association are proud to announce Louise Sowards, MSN, is being honored for her exceptional successes in the nursing community.  With many years in the industry, Louise has demonstrated the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Nurse in her field. Louise serves Trinidad State Junior College in Alamosa, Colorado.  She is the Director of Nursing, a post she has held since 2009.  Her responsibilities include supervising a department of fifteen employees, ensuring that the curriculum is followed, classes are scheduled, required reports are filed, and recruiting and orienting new faculty as the program continues to grow.  Always looking to expand the program, Louise is looking forward to implementing a pilot program that will offer part-time, evening and weekend classes at the Trinidad campus.  This way, more new nurses can be trained and work simultaneously. In 1980, Louise earned her RN degree at Mason State College.  She then went on to obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Regis University in 1995, then her Master’s of Science in Nursing (MSN) from the University of Colorado in 2008.  Louise is also a clinical nurse specialist in palliative care, and worked previously as a Staff Nurse and Assistant Director of Nursing for 16 years prior to her current position. Voted a Faculty Member of the Year in 2012 by the College, Louise believes deeply in the College’s message and its student body.
