Islam, MD, is being honored for her exceptional successes in the cardiology community. Over her many years in practice, Dr. Islam has continued to demonstrate the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Physician in her field. Dr. Islam serves the MidMichigan Health System in Midland, Michigan. Board certified in Cardiology, Cardiovascular Disease, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, Dr. Islam specializes in electrophysiology of the heart. Electrophysiology typically measures and monitors the electrical rhythms of the heart: when they are not normal, arrhythmias may occur. Typical procedures performed by Dr. Islam may include cardiac catheterization, pacemakers, and echocardiographies. By using radiofrequencies to solve the problem, patients no longer need to rely on medications. Dr. Islam is also a Professor at Michigan State University. In 1994, Dr. Islam received her medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College in Pakistan. She came to the United States for her internal medicine residency at Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in Illinois, and two fellowships in Canada and the United States. They included a cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Ontario, and a cardiology fellowship at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
