Board certified in Oral Surgery, Dr. Abouzgia specializes in implants as well as oral and maxillofacial surgery; which involves the treatment and repair of diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the mouth, jaws, and facial regions. Dr. Abouzgia is active in the dental field, being an international public speaker on the topic of his expertise, and contributing various publications to the peer-reviewed Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants; as well as, authored “Bone Temperature Rise during Drilling”; in 1995 under the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Toronto. When not serving his patients, Dr. Abouzgia is an attending physician at Toronto General Hospital; a major landmark in Canada’s healthcare system and a teaching hospital for the University of Toronto. In 1996, Dr. Abouzgia graduated from the University of Libya, where he graduated first in his class. He then completed post-graduate training with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and received a scholarship to the University of Toronto. An advocate for continued education, Dr. Abouzgia is an esteemed member to many dental associations such as the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and the Ontario Dental Association.
