Today, the projects launched by SA Cares for Life are considered specialized child welfare services. Riekie was an accomplished social worker when she decided to pursue her calling to make a difference in the lives of pregnant mothers. Drawing on her extraordinary skills as a social worker as well as on her coaching and educating talents, she joined the world of entrepreneurs by founding her own non-profit company. Nurturing the success of her projects on marketing and fundraising capacities, Riekie succeeded in transforming one small office into a multifaceted organization able to change the destiny of children in need. Despite obtaining a considerable amount of her expertise through her professional experience, Ms. Van der Burg also earned a Bachelor’s Degree of Social Work from the University of Pretoria. Moreover, she obtained a Christian Counseling Diploma and is certified in Marriage Counseling. Evidencing her proficiency in the field, she was awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award by the Rotary Foundation.
