Press Release: Leona Weston Ayers, MD, Represents Ohio with Inclusion into Renowned Publication The Leading Physicians of the World

Representing the pathologists of Ohio, Leona Weston Ayers, MD, has been selected to represent her community in the publication of The Leading Physicians of the World.  In practice for many years, Dr. Ayers represents the commitment, excellence, and passion for patient care needed to receive this prestigious honor. Dr. Ayers is a Professor of Pathology at Ohio State University Medical Center, where she also practices pathology. Board certified by the American Board of Pathology, Dr. Ayers is an expert in Academic, Anatomic, and Clinical Pathology.  Working in conjunction with the James Cancer Hospital, Dr. Ayers works at the only free-standing cancer hospital in the Midwest and one of 40 comprehensive cancer hospitals in the nation.  By examining cells through a microscope and other tools, Dr. Ayers is an expert in the observance of malignant cells and cancer diagnosis.In 1967, Dr. Ayers graduated from the prestigious Duke University School of Medicine.  She completed her internship there as well, followed by a residency also at Duke and Ohio State University.   Dr. Ayers often conducts research for the Human Tissue Network, and her articles have been published in such journals as the New England Journal of Medicine and Methods in Molecular Biology, among others.  She has also presented her findings at international conferences and symposiums, including Sub-Saharan Africa Lymphoma Consortium.
