Dr. Ahmad is a valued physician at The Heart Institute, affiliated with Pikeville Medical Center, located in Pikeville, Kentucky. Within The Heart Institute, Dr. Ahmad offers special services in interventional cardiology including carotid ultrasounds, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, coronary stents and angioplasty, and echocardiography. Dr. Ahmad also provides his expertise at Pikeville Medical Center; which was named National Hospital of the Year for the third consecutive year in 2012. As well as serving his cardiology patients, Dr. Ahmad is an Associate Professor at the University of Pikeville, College of Osteopathic Medical. He was recognized by the University for his outstanding accomplishments as an educator, with the Excellence in Clinical Medicine Education Award in 2009. In 2004, Dr. Ahmad graduated from the University of the Punjab in Pakistan. He then relocated to the United States, where he attended the University of Texas Health Science Center for his internship and interventional cardiology fellowship. While studying at the University of Texas, Dr. Ahmad was honored as Best Fellow in 2003. He then obtained double certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease and internal medicine.
