Sturbaum, MD, is being honored for his exceptional successes in the ophthalmological community.  Over his many years in practice, Dr. Sturbaum has continued to demonstrate the passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for patient care necessary to be considered a Top Physician in his field. Dr. Sturbaum works for Empire Eye Physicians in Spokane Valley, Washington.  He specializes in advanced anterior segment care including expertise in cataract surgery, laser vision correction, complex or difficult refractive surgical cases and specialized corneal transplantation.  Dr. Sturbaum is one of America’s Top Ophthalmologists according to the Consumer’s Research Council of America in 2002-2003.  Currently, Dr. Sturbaum is conducting research Investigations for Park Davis, Allergan, and Insite Vision on ophthalmic exams, and ocular hypertension among other topics; and is also conducting a study for Corneal Collagen Cross for keratoconus patients in Ireland. In 1992, Dr. Sturbaum received his medical degree from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.  He then went to Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital for his internship, and the University of Texas Galveston for his ophthalmology residency. He then completed a fellowship at the University of Texas at Houston in Cornea and Refractive Surgery.  It is this unique corneal training that makes him a special asset to Washington citizens. Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Sturbaum is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Washington State Medical Society, Spokane County Medical Society, and the John B. Graham Honorary Students Research Society.
