As a teacher with Chicago Public Schools as well as throughout her entire career, Gloria has consistently demonstrated the dedication, vision, and skills required to be considered among the best. Chicago Public Schools represent the third largest school district in the United States with 681 educational facilities including 472 elementary schools, 96 campuses, 106 high schools, and 7 contract schools. Chicago Public Schools handles the education of over 404,000 students through a team of highly qualified and accomplished staff members working to improve the education of Chicago children. Gloria Goss Harris is a retired special education teacher specialized in educating the blind and partially sighted. She has served for over 30 years at Chicago Public Schools and has gained the admiration of the special education community for her proficiency and dedication. Gloria holds an impressive professional background on teaching sign language as well as providing Braille interpretation, training, and speech development classes. She devotes her free time to traveling and providing sign language interpretation for churches. Gloria holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University and a Master’s in Blind and Partially Blind Sighted from the Chicago State University. In her spare time Gloria volunteers at the Youth Fair with the church and is part of the choral group.
