Disappears cover U2
Eagle-eyed A.V. Club enthusiasts might recognize Disappears from the inaugural A.V. Fest (in 2010), where the Chicago band slayed us all despite the heat. (Eagle-eyed Sonic Youth enthusiasts probably recognized the band’s then-drummer, Steve Shelley, who has since left the band.) Hot on the heels of their excellent new post-punk-inspired album Era, the band stopped by to breathe new life into U2′s 1983 classic “New Year’s Day.” (Fun fact: The single was actually released on January 1, 1983.) Enjoy.
