Press Release: Pine Manor College Approved to Become Fully Co-Educational as of January, 2014
HISTORIC WOMEN’S COLLEGE RECEIVES NEASC APPROVAL TO ADMIT MEN INTO ALL PROGRAMS
PRESS RELEASE: CHESTNUT HILL, MA (September 27, 2013) – Pine Manor College has received permission from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) to become fully co-educational as of January 1, 2014. This allows the College to immediately enroll men into B.A. and B.S. programs, welcoming them to a campus community already co-educational in its Associate’s and Master’s Programs.
Pine Manor’s Interim President, Joseph Lee, Ph.D., stated “We are thrilled by the news from NEASC that Pine Manor College has been approved to become a co-educational institution. This begins an exciting new chapter in our history by expanding our reach to offer a valuable and relevant educational and personal experience to both men and women.”
Pine Manor is a small, private four-year liberal arts college. Its historic campus, situated on 43 wooded acres in the Chestnut Hill section of Brookline, MA, is only a few miles outside of Boston. Pine Manor offers personalized education and tailored mentoring grounded in the Liberal Arts tradition, to as many as 500 students each year. The College has done so for 103 years. It boasts a National Institute of Health award-winning Biology program, preparing graduates to secure careers in health care, community health and research. In addition, the College offers strong individualized programs in Education, Management, Psychology and the Visual Arts. Pine Manor also offers one Master’s degree opportunity via its highly regarded MFA program in Creative Writing. This program welcomes guest lecturers including Dennis Lehane, Mira Bartok and Pulitzer Prize-winning poet, Stephen Dunn. Pine Manor College is Athletics NCAA Division III and offers 5 Varsity sports: basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball and volleyball.
