Intel: Don’t Expect Tons Of Android, Windows Dual Devices Yet
The general manager of Intel’s tablet business, Erik Reid, said that the company’s customers are exploring a Windows 8.1-Android dual operating system strategy in the face of Android’s overwhelming popularity in mobile devices. But “exploring” is the operative word. Intel’s customers are looking into the technology, but it’s not clear right now how many will actually commit. In an interview with CNET, Reid said, “They’re exploring, they’re trying to understand opportunities, the usage models but most of the devices you’ll see in the market will be Windows specific or Android specific, but you’ll certainly see a few experiments.”
