It’s said that there are actually twice as many rats as there are people in the Big Apple. Well, New York’s health department has created RIP, or Rat Information Portal, an interactive web map where you can search through all five of New York’s boroughs and figure out just how rat infested each neighborhood, address, or block is. The data for the map is collected using “rat indexing” which is an inspection process carried out by health department officials. So, this all seems gross, but perhaps informative.
