Devout Hindus Celebrate Basant Panchmi In Allahabad
Thousands of devout Hindus took a holy bath in the sacred waters of ‘Sangam’, the confluence of River Ganges, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati, on Tuesday to commemorate Basant Panchmi, a festival that marks the onset of spring. The festival glorifies Hindu Goddess Saraswati, patron of knowledge, music and the arts. Senior Superintendent of Police Umesh Kumar said his team was determined to make the festival a successful one. He said, “Large crowds of devotees are coming to take holy dip on the occasion Basant Panchmi.”
