South African President Jacob Zuma has set May 7 as the date for general elections in which his ruling African National Congress is likely to easily extend its two-decades rule. “The electoral term of the present government will come to an end on the 22nd of April. The ANC is expected to win the vote with a comfortable majority, although anger is mounting against the movement which spearheaded the fight against apartheid but now faces charges of failing to lift millions of blacks out of grinding poverty.
