Stocks were moving higher Thursday even after weak reports on hiring and retail sales. Goodyear Tire & Rubber soared after reporting a big earnings gain, while Cisco Systems and Whole Foods dropped after releasing disappointing results. Major indexes were moving between small gains and losses in morning trading. The Standard & Poor’s 500 index was up 5.24 points, or 0.29 percent, to 1,824.50 as of 12:30 p.m. Eastern time. The Dow Jones industrial average edged up 37 points, or 0.23 percent, to break through the 16,000 mark. The Nasdaq composite rose 19 points, or 0.45 percent, to 4,220.
