Press Release: Charlie Birch of Being Human Ally, Inc. to be Featured on Close-Up Talk Radio
LIGHTNING RELEASES 03/28/14 — Boulder, CO – We’re taught from day one that hard work is the key to success – that rest is the opposite of productivity and play is the opposite of responsibility – so it’s no wonder that workaholism has quietly become one of the biggest problems facing our culture today.
Unlike drugs and alcohol, our culture reinforces our addiction to work, even at the expense of our physical health. According to the National Center for Health Statistics, 76.2 million Americans suffer from some form of chronic pain. It isn’t hard to draw the connection.
Charlie Birch is the founder of Being Human Ally, Inc., a holistic coaching practice specializing in pain management and workaholic recovery. Through a one-on-one coaching program, which draws from Charlie’s own experience recovering from both chronic pain and workaholism, Being Human Ally helps clients restore a sense of balance in their lives and build a new sustainable lifestyle.
“What else could I be better qualified to help people with than the two things that were the hardest for me to overcome?” says Charlie. “I can relate to my clients and I can offer really clear advice. It worked for me and I’m not so different that it should only work for me.”
Charlie’s family is originally from the Washington D.C. area, a city notorious for breeding classic workaholics. Her parents, both management consultants, suffered from chronic back pain. A serious dancer as a young teenager Charlie herself, , suffered from mysterious chronic pain for 10 years but always assumed it was a genetic.
“I started doing research into emotional component of chronic pain,” recalls Charlie. “I realized I had all these rules around who I could be and what I was allowed to feel. It was really creating a lot of tension in my body. As I went through the process of learning how to deal with my pain, I realized I was a raging workaholic.”
Charlie says it was like she couldn’t give herself permission to relax and her pain would always come when she would try. Sound familiar? She pursued her education in somatic psychology and body-centered psychotherapy and launched Being Human Ally to help her clients envision a different life, a life that isn’t governed by your schedule planner or your pain. In addition to her individual sessions with clients, Charlie collaborates with businesses to promote organizational health.
“There’s nothing more important than your health,” says Charlie. “I’m proud that I was able to heal myself and use that experience to create something that helps other people.”
Close-Up Talk Radio will feature Charlie Birch in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on April 1st at 7pm EST.
