Press Release: BNET PARTNERS WITH REGIONAL CATASTROPHIC PLANNING TEAM TO EXPAND THE CEAS PROGRAM IN THE NY-NJ-CT-PA REGION
Project aims to improve regional economic resiliency to disasters
LIGHTNING RELEASES: Fulton (4/15/2014)– Today BNET announced a regional expansion initiative sponsored by the Regional Catastrophic Planning Team (“RCPT”) of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. The project will assist BNET to develop and implement a regional solution to expand the successful Corporate Emergency Access System (CEAS).
The CEAS is intended to improve the resiliency of private sector businesses, which play a critical role in regional recovery efforts following a major emergency by restoring vital, privately owned, public lifelines following a major emergency or disaster. The voluntary program facilitates business recovery activities and speeds overall community recovery by providing priority, credential based access for critical business employees to their work facilities. This is the first such attempt at regionalizing the program.
The CEAS is currently used by New York City, Nassau, Suffolk and Rockland Counties in New York and in Stamford, Connecticut. CEAS is also used in the cities of Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts; Providence, Rhode Island; Buffalo, New York; Philadelphia and Baltimore.
“We are excited for the opportunity to introduce CEAS in a cohesive, multi-jurisdictional setting”, said Jeff Shaw, BNET President. “We have always envisioned CEAS as a regionally based or statewide solution, and this project represents an important first step toward that goal.”
“The Regional Catastrophic Preparedness Team has worked diligently to coordinate New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania’s regional emergency planning efforts, and expanding CEAS at the regional level will meet the needs of businesses that have offices in multiple states across the region,” said NYC Office of Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph F. Bruno. “Additionally, the NYC Office of Emergency Management has a strong commitment to public private partnerships. The expansion of the CEAS program will enhance business resiliency and recovery and strengthen the region overall.”
