LIGHTNING RELEASES 05/08/14 –Marietta, GA – The feeling of helplessness and fear when a friend, a loved one or even a stranger needs emergency medical attention is something no one is ever prepared for and everyone hopes to avoid. When the first responders do arrive, you pray they’ll be able to help, but they can only use their best judgment.

The more information first responders have at their disposal, the better, and with Tags4Kidz, now responders have an edge. Tags4Kidz combines kids fashion with vital medical, allergy and identification information engraved on a personally designed tag.  Kids can wear their customized tags on belt loops, backpacks, shoe laces, purses and key chains.

Tass Sweeney is the founder of Tags4Kidz.

“Is your child diabetic? Are they allergic to peanuts? Do they have a heart problem? What medications are they on? This is critical information so you have to be proactive.” says Tass.

As a medical alert system, Tags4Kidz is both necessary and affordable. And unlike other medical alert systems, there’s no mistaking who the person is. Tags4Kidz tags come with facial recognition. And it only costs about $23.

Tass was first inspired to create Tags4Kidz after working at the Army base where she saw the state-of-the-art engraving machine they use to make dog tags.

“When I came across this machine, I knew I could do something with it, but what could I do?” recalls Tass. “So I started listening to my friends with kids and the news.”

It didn’t take long. A girl in California had died because she ate a Rice Krispy treat; the chocolate was laced with peanut oil and the girl was highly allergic to peanuts.

“I’ve always wanted to do something to really help people that didn’t cost a lot of money. Now everyone I speak to tells me about someone they know who could benefit from this. For under $25, what is it really costing you?

“I couldn’t believe this wasn’t already available, but it was meant to be,” says Tass. “And I just want to help. If I can save one life with this, that’s all that matters.”

Close-Up Talk Radio will feature Tass Sweeney in a two-part interview with Jim Masters on May 12th at 12pm and with Doug Llewelyn on June 17th at 12pm EST.
