R-rated comedy “Neighbors” vaulted to the top spot at the North American box office in its debut weekend, relegating “The Amazing Spider-Man 2″ to second place, industry estimates showed Sunday. Starring Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne as new parents who find themselves living next door to a raucous fraternity, Universal Pictures’ “Neighbors” raked in $51.1 million from Friday to Sunday, figures from Exhibitor Relations showed. “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” the sequel featuring Andrew Garfield, settled for second, taking in $37.2 million for a total $148 million in the two weeks since release.
