After California Chrome’s win at the 139th Preakness Stakes on Saturday, the average secondary market price for Belmont Stakes tickets has jumped significantly. California Chrome will look to become the 12th Triple Crown winner in thoroughbred racing history, on June 7 at Belmont Park. According to TiqIQ, this year’s Belmont Stakes will be the most expensive in the past three years. It’s no surprise that prices have risen since California Chrome became just the 34th horse to win both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes on Saturday and if he can complete the Triple Crown he will be the first horse to do so since Affirmed successfully won the series of races in 1978.
