The parents of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl addressed their son during a news conference Sunday in Boise, Idaho, telling him how proud they are of him — just a day after he was released in Afghanistan after five years in captivity. Jani Bergdahl said to her son, who is now hospitalized in Germany, “I think you may be surprised by the number of people who have gathered you into their hearts.” The soldier’s father said he had not yet spoken directly to his son.
