Justices Won’t Stop Gay Marriages In Oregon
The nation’s leading advocacy group opposing same-sex marriage lost its effort Wednesday to stop gays and lesbians from marrying in Oregon. In a one-line ruling without explanation, the Supreme Court refused to stay a district judge’s ruling from last month that cleared the way for same-sex weddings there. The National Organization for Marriage had sought to block those marriages while continuing its legal effort to intervene in the case.
