General Motors has stopped accruing a penalty of $7,000 a day for missing a deadline for submitting documents in connection with the recall of 2.6 million small cars worldwide for fatally flawed ignition switches. As of June 5, when GM gave the government the Valukas report on how the automaker managed to delay recalling the cars for more than a decade, the Department of Transportation halted the daily penalty..GM promised to pay the total Friday.
