According to reports from Reuters and The Wall Street Journal over the weekend, the soon-to-be former American Apparel CEO Dov Charney was ambushed by his board’s decision to fire him last week, and denies allegations that he behaved inappropriately with company funds and employees. Citing unnamed sources, both publications reported that Charney was told Wednesday, at a regularly scheduled board meeting, to resign from his position as president, CEO and chairman of his company, or the board would fire him with cause. By that evening, Charney had refused to resign, and the board fired him, pending a 30-day period required by his contract.
