At least 26 people died and 79 people were injured after a strong earthquake hit Yunnan province in China, state-run television reported Sunday. Power and telephone outages were complicating assessment of the damage, rescuers told CCTV. The magnitude 6.1 quake was centered about 11 kilometers (7 miles) west-northwest of the town of Wenping, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. CNN’s Kevin Wang contributed to this report.
