I didn’t know anyone killed on 9/11. But I know many of the lost through their stories. I thought of that this week on a visit to the 9/11 Memorial plaza, now freely accessible to the public. No need to have a ticket, pass through security or stand in line. The victims’ names are etched in bronze parapets around two giant waterfall pools that trace the footprints of the World Trade Center’s twin towers. They’re not in alphabetical order, but names can be located via an online registry.
