Chinese media said Friday that authorities have detained someone for the first time for spreading panic on mobile messaging app WeChat–hours after China imposed new rules on instant messaging tools. A newspaper subsidiary of the official Xinhua news agency said the man was taken into custody on Thursday, after writing on WeChat that three people carrying explosives had been shot dead by police outside a hospital in the eastern province of Jiangsu.
