A photo of black students with their hands raised is becoming a symbol of solidarity after Michael Brown, an unarmed black teen, was shot by a police officer Saturday in Ferguson, Mo. Howard University senior Megan Sims, or @The_Blackness48, tweeted the photo, saying, “Powerful picture we took today at Howard University.” Witnesses said Brown had raised his arms before he was shot, but police have not confirmed this detail and said there was a scuffle.
