A man who fell asleep on the banks of the Thames rolled into the river and had to be rescued by a lifeboat crew. A Royal National Lifeboat Institution helmsman said the man must have lain down and fallen asleep on the embankment wall before he fell in. Lifeboat station manager Janet Kelly said, “We took him back to Tower lifeboat station, next to Waterloo Bridge, where we handed him into the care of the London Ambulance Service.” She added: “We would really urge people to take care in and around the River Thames.”
