Albert Reynolds, Former Irish Taoiseach, Dies Aged 81
The state broadcaster RTE has reported that the former Irish taoiseach Albert Reynolds, one of the most influential leaders in the country’s history, has died. The 81-year-old became the eighth prime minister of the country in 1992, serving for just under three years but helping to forge the historic Downing Street declaration of 1993, which Reynolds co-signed with the then British prime minister, John Major.
