Miley Cyrus got people talking during Sunday’s Video Music Awards, using her win for Video of the Year as a platform for homeless youth in America. Cyrus yielded her acceptance speech spotlight to Jesse Helt, a homeless teen currently residing in Los Angeles, California, who Cyrus brought as her date to the awards show. Cyrus’ rep Megan Prophet told Mashable that the moment was apparently planned by Cyrus, and MTV was not made aware of her acceptance speech plans. Little information was known about Jesse, other than his age and his home state, in the hours after he delivered his moving speech in front of millions.
