Apple has so far avoided building NFC functionality into its iDevices. The company relied on Bluetooth LE for its iBeacon technology, which lets customers access info and various services through their phones in physical stores. Regardless of the technology Apple ends up using, the company’s mobile payment platform will make a big splash come Sept. 9, when Apple will likely introduce the new iPhone.
