“Russian forces have entered Ukraine,” President Petro Poroshenko said on Thursday. Ukraine security spokesman later said two columns of tanks from Russia have entered a strategic town in the southeast. Poroshenko canceled a trip to Turkey and called an emergency meeting with the nation’s security council as the strategic southeastern Ukraine town of Novoazovsk now appears firmly under the control of Russia-backed separatists, igniting fears that the rebels are attempting to establish a land link between Russia and Crimea.
