Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) and Chrysler (BIT: F) to Recall 52,000 Vehicles

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) and Chrysler (BIT: F) are recalling a combined 52,000 vehicles to fix various issues which could result in damage to vehicles.

The federal government said that Chrysler will recall about 22,000 sport utility vehicles and trucks to fix issues with brake tubes which could lead to the loss of brake fluid making it difficult to use breaks on a vehicle creating the potential threat for a crash. Chrysler owners will likely be notified of the recall in August.

Meanwhile, Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) will recall more than 30,000 2010 Transit Connect vans to replace pushpins holding the liners above the driver’s head. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) said that government testing found that it had failed to meet federal standards protecting the head. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) recall is expected to begin this month.

Shares of Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) traded up 2.17% on Friday hitting $10.85. Over the weekend, the stock rose by an additional 0.09% to $10.86. Shares of Fiat, the owner of Chrysler, traded up 1.20% hitting $8.82 on Friday.
