Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) has hired former Hyundai-design chief Joel Piaskowski to become the company’s new director of exterior design for the Americas.
Piaskowski, age 41, is a graduate of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. He previously worked alongside Edward T. Welburn Jr., now vice president of design at GM, before joining Hyundai in 2003. He has worked in several automobile design studios around the globe and has developed production models for a number of GM brands including Holden, Vauxhall, Opel, Buick, Pontiac and Chevrolet.
During his time at Hyundai, Piaskowski lead the company’s North American Design Studio in California.
Ford Motor Company (Ford) is a producer of cars and trucks. Ford and its subsidiaries also engage in other businesses, including financing vehicles. It operates under two segments: Automotive and Financial Services. The Automotive segment includes the operations of Ford North America, Ford South America, Ford Europe, Ford Asia Pacific Africa and Volvo. The Financial services include the operations of Ford Motor Credit Company and Other Financial Services. In August 2010, the Company completed the sale of its Swedish Volvo Car unit and related assets to China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co.
Shares of Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) traded down 0.16% during mid-day trading on Monday.
