Most guides always tell us that we should practice caution wherever we visit the casino because ‘the house always wins’. If this is true, which many proclaim, then casinos ought to be very rich. Below we look at some of the US casinos that keep recording huge profits year-on-year. Before we start, however, we just want to state that our list includes casinos operating solely in the US thus you won’t find partnerships with UK online casinos and others; we include both casinos with only a physical presence and those with a physical presence and an online presence.
Las Vegas Sands (Market Cap $39 billion)
Las Vegas Sands recorded significantly poor figures during the 2008 financial crises, a trend that continued for a few more years. However, starting in 2013, Las Vegas Sands’ fortunes changed and it began to reclaim its former glory. In the last three years, Las Vegas Sands has been generating on average $14.5 billion in profits.
MGM Resorts International owns the Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip and the MGM Grand Casino Las Vegas, which is the US’ largest casino and the world’s third-largest casino. In all, MGM Resorts International has over 6 500 rooms. In the past three years, MGM Resorts International has been generating profits on average of $10 billion.
Caesars Entertainment (Market Cap $1.18 billion)
Caesars Entertainment has some of the country brightest casinos in Atlantic City and in Las Vegas. Some of Caesars Entertainment casinos include Caesars Atlantic City, The Rio and Caesars Palace. Caesars Palace in Las Vegas has held many events including Celine Dion’s “A New Day” show for which it was built, President Obama functions and hosted Stevie Nicks and Cher. Since 2010, Caesars Entertainment profits have been averaging $7 billion.
Wynn Resorts (Market Cap $7.03 billion)
Arguably, the most affected casino and resort company by the 2008 financial crises is the Wynn Resorts. The 2008 financial crises nearly led Wynn Resorts to close its doors but it has steadily been gaining back its former self in recent years. In 2016, Wynn Resorts generated $5, 4 billion in profits and it’s expected that the 2017 financial results will show an increase in profit margins.
Boyd Gaming (Market Cap $2.23 billion)
Boyd Gaming’s California Hotel and Casino is a little Hawaii as virtually all Hawaiians who visit the US stay at this hotel. Hawaiians have provided Boyd Gaming with good business as it generates on average $2.7 billion in profits over the last three years.
