Prosper.com, also known as Prosper Marketplace, has released the mobile version of their peer-to-peer lending service.
Prosper Marketplace’s new mobile website is targeted clearly toward the lending side of peer-to-peer lending. The service allows lenders to login to their accounts, manage their account settings, view their watch lists, search borrower listings, place bids on listings, ask questions to borrowers about their listings and transfer funds into their prosper accounts.
Prosper mobile doesn’t provide much of any functionality for borrowers. The company likely believes that borrowers aren’t going to want to enter in text on multi-page forms on a mobile device.
Prosper Marketplace hasn’t commented publicly about the launch of their mobile site, but it’s likely an attempt to encourage borrowers to come back to Prosper’s website on a more frequent basis. The new mobile version of the service will encourage lenders to keep better track of the loans that are available and make additional bids on the service
Thanks to Wise Clerk for the “heads-up” about Prosper Marketplace’s new mobile website.
