Citigroup announced on Monday that it has resumed its Haiti operations after relocating to a new office after a 7.0 earthquake struck the country two weeks ago.
Citigroup, which lost 5 employees in the natural disaster, said that it will run its Haitian operations out of the ScotiaBank building in Petion-Ville until further notice. Petion-Ville is located on the outskirts of Port-au-Prince, which was all but destroyed by the earth quake.
Citigroup, which has been one of the worst hit out of the major banks during the financial crisis, has had operations in Port-au-Prince since 1971.
Last week, Citigroup announced a fourth quarter loss of $7.8 billion because of non-performing loans and costs related to repaying $20 billion in federal bailout money.
