Bank of The West Picks Up Former Citibank Executive as New COO (NYSE: C)

Bank of the West announced on Friday that it had hired former Citibank (NYSE: C) executive Maura Markus as the company’s new president and chief operating officer.

Markus was the second Citibank alumni to join Bank of the West’s executive team in as many weeks. Recently Duke Dayal joined the company as its new chief financial officer. Dayal had previously served as Citibank’s “Citibank West” division’s chief financial officer and more recently as a managing director at New York private equity firm Brysam Global Partners, which invests in financial services.

Markus joins Bank of the West after working for 22 years at Citibank, where she most recently served as the company’s head of its international retail bank. Between 2000 and 2007, she served as president of Citibank North America and managed a 1,000-branch network of retail banks.

“Maura Markus is a leader in our industry with an outstanding record of corporate accomplishments and civic involvement, which makes her a tremendous addition to our leadership team,” said Bank of the West Chairman and CEO Michael Shepherd. Bank of the Wet currently has about $60 billion in asset and is owned by BancWest Corp, a subsidiary of BNP Paribas.
