Citigroup (NSE: C) has announced the hiring of Payam Akhavan-Malayeri as its director for its Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa equities trading desk, according to an internal release first reported by Bloomberg.
Akhavan-Malayeri, who will begin his new position at Citigroup in June, previously worked for Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (NYSE: GS) and Merrill Lynch (NYSE: BAC) in London as an emerging markets trader, according to the internal release. He will focus on the Middle East and North Africa and principal trading also in Central and Eastern Europe, according the e-mail sent to company employees.
Citigroup’s new director will be based in London and will report directly to Yonatan Gozdanker, head of trading and execution for equities in Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
