Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission Takes Aim at Citigroup (NYSE: C)

The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission has setup three-days worth of hearings next week placing a strong emphasis on Citigroup (NYSE: C), in which the group will interview current and former executives at the bank as well as various regulators.

The focus of the commission’s hearings will be on sub-prime lending, government-sponsored enterprises and securitization.

on Wednesday, the commission will interview former Federal Reserve Board Chairman Alan Greenspan to testify about the Federal Reserve System, followed by a panel which will be focused on subprime origination and securitization, which will feature several former Citigroup employees.

Wednesday afternoon’s hearings will be rounded out with two sessions related to risk management which will feature former Citigroup officials and sub-prime related structured products from Citigroup.

The commission is scheduled to hear from Chuck Prince, Citigroup’s former chairman and CEO, on Thursday as well as Robert Rubin, a former Citigroup chairman of the executive committee of the board of directors.

Thursday will also feature a panel of regulators including Comptroller of the Currency John Dugan and former Comptroller John Hawke Jr.

Friday’s hearings will focus on government-sponsored enterprises.
