Ford (NYSE: F) CEO Says China is Top Priority

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) CEO Alan Mulally said on Monday that serving customers in China is one of the company’s top priorities and that the automaker hopes to bring all of Ford’s vehicles to china soon.

“We have great operation in China, we are expending our operations in China, and bringing all of Ford vehicles to China as quickly as we can,” Mulally told Xinhua in an exclusive interview after unveiling its new 2011 Ford Explorer in New York. “It’s a wonderful market, with wonderful customers, and we are really looking forward to serving them even better,” the CEO said.

During the first half of 2010, Ford posted its best-ever vehicle sales results in China. During the period, Ford sold 301,524 units in China, up 53% during the same period in 2009. Ford’s partnership with Mazda, Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, accounted for sales of 205,563 units in the first half, up 46 percent year-on-year.

“As you know Explorer is in China now, and I think Chinese customers are going to like the improvement, the quality and the capability …. and we will try to get Chinese customers the new Explorer as earlier as next year,” said Mulally.

Ford Motor Company (Ford) is a producer of cars and trucks. Ford and its subsidiaries also engage in other businesses, including financing vehicles. It operates under two segments: Automotive and Financial Services. The Automotive segment includes the operations of Ford North America, Ford South America, Ford Europe, Ford Asia Pacific Africa and Volvo. The Financial services include the operations of Ford Motor Credit Company and Other Financial Services.

Shares of Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) traded up 1.73% on Monday hitting $12.94.
