Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) Begins Sales of Vehicles with MyFord Touch

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) has begun offering the sale of two vehicles which feature the “MyFord Touch” on-screen turn-by-turn navigation and computer systems, including the 2011 Ford Edge and 2011 Lincoln MKX. The MyFord Touch technology is also expected to be available on the 2012 Ford Focus.

The MyFord Touch technology allows users to interact with the system through a touch screen interface with more than 10,000 voice commands. The package features an 8” touch-screen in the center console and 4.2” dual screens in the instrument cluster to show full color maps and routing information. The premium, SD-card based navigation system will set customers back $795.00.

Ford and Lincoln drivers will also be able to use the Ford Sync’s Traffic Directions and Information (TDI) service for turn-by-turn voice direction which comes free for three years with those models. The vehicles also have “Sync” technology, co-developed by Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT).

Shares of Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT) traded down 0.04% hitting $23.63 during mid-day trading on Tuesday.
