Global Payments Inc has appointed Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS) executive Jeffrey Sloan to be its new president, according to a statement from the company on Tuesday.
Mr. Sloan is currently managing director and partner at Goldman Sachs Group where he runs the bank’s financial technology group and has led Goldman’s banking activities for the payments industry.
Mr. Sloan has “an unparalleled understanding of emerging trends and worldwide opportunities in the payments industry,” Global Payments chairman and CEO Paul Garcia said in a statement.
James Kelly, Global Payments’ current president, will remain with the company as chief operating officer. Kelly has been COO since 2005 and has been president since 2008.
Global Payments provides businesses with products such as credit card processing equipment and gift card systems.
