Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) to End Sponsorship of NFL

Bank of America (NYSE: BAC) has ended its sponsorship of the National Football League (NFL), according to NFL Spokesman Brian McCarthy and Daniel Kaplan of the Sports Business Journal

The Charlotte N.C.’s sponsorship of the NFL ended on March 31st after talks between the NFL and Bank of America failed to develop an agreement which made either side happy.

McCarthy told the San Francisco Chronicle that the NFL would be “exploring what’s out there” in terms of seeking a new large-cap bank sponsor.

Jon Schwartz of Bank of America Global Media Relations wrote in a statement to the press that “After many months of negotiations, Bank of America and the NFL could not arrive at a mutually beneficial set of terms for the sponsorship.”

Schwartz said that despite ending its agreement with the NFL, that it will continue to sponsor specific teams. “It is our intent to continue to reach their large and highly – engaged fan base through our existing NFL team sponsorships, which we’re excited about.”
